They are all home...

Toffee's family made it official at the last Meet & Greet so this whole litter is officially ADOPTED!

Dear Tiffany...

I am so sorry to report that dear Tiffany died in a tragic accident one week after finding her Forever Family. She jumped up while wearing a martingale collar and it got caught on a door knob, hanging her. I am sick about this tragedy-- I hope her death can serve as a reminder to others to NEVER leave martingale collars on dogs-- they should be kept on the leash and pulled over the dog's head when it is time for a walk.

Toffee Goes Home

Toffee came to us a couple of months ago after a trial adoption that didn't work out for her. Her adopters claimed she hated their Boxer puppy, which was highly possible since she had just been spayed and wanted to be left alone. We worked through her distaste for walking on a leash, her fear of cars, her barking at strangers, and - most of all - her housebreaking. She wasn't doing very well at the adoption days because, despite the fact that she had turned into a normal, crazy puppy at home, she was still really shy at the adoption days. We had a breakthrough when Debi and George found her on the Forgotten Friends Web site and wanted to meet her at the Riverside Dog Park. There, they were able to see that, at least with us, she was a quite normal 6-month-old puppy. She was absolutely terrified of them, but they took her home for a trial adoption anyway and by the end of the day she was cuddling up to them on the couch and playing nicely with their Terrier/Chihuahua mix, Buddy! Debi and George have had Toffee for a week now and they have no intentions of giving her back. We and all our neighbors (and their dogs) sorely miss Toffee. Hopefully we'll get to see her at least once more when her adoption is finalized!

i need to share...

hello everyone. "Miss. Tiffy" as i like to call her has been my foster baby since Saturday evening when i just couldn't resist her sweet smile at adoption day out at PETCO... she was extremely shy at first, and claimed this spot (see picture)next to my couch in my tiny living room as "Tiffy's spot." she kept to herself for the first day or so and wasn't exactly thrilled when i took her swimming at the dog park on Sunday - she'd swim straight back to shore grunting like a grouchy teenager all the way back and then she'd just sit there and watch the other dogs splash around...

well, she's been with me now for just over 3 days and she's been slowly warming up to me and my dog who doesn't care much for her. and, today we finally had a big break through: she kissed me!! i was petting her and holding her close, hugging her and spoiling her, when all of a sudden she leaned over and laid a big one on my cheek! yay for progress! i'm so excited i just had to share! she's also gotten alot better on the leash, although we're still working on that.

if you're interested in meeting Miss. Tiffy (the chihuahua-wannabe) i hear she'll be out at PETCO again this weekend. if you have any questions please don't hesitate to post them or email Forgotten Friends and i'll do my best to answer them.

He's Back!

When I went to pick up Beau on June 17th I just couldn't leave Ben's favorite rescue dog, Tuffy, behind. So I brought him home too and Ben decided to take on Tuff 'n Stuff as his OWN rescue dog!

Since he has been back with us he has been doing very well with his house training and crate training. He loves playing with all of the other dogs and enjoys spending time with the humans too. He has had a few baths and is easy to groom. Really he is just the sweetest doggie-- and Ben's all time fave!

Meanwhile, Toffee went to a new foster family two weeks ago and is thriving there. Sister Tiffany is still back at the Rescue. ALL of them are still waiting for their Forever Families!

Back to Headquarters!

Well, we suddenly found ourselves over-run with puppies and the darling trio returned to the Forgotten Friends' director's home. Ben cried and cried about their leaving, especially dear Tuffy, and we are hoping that they finally get their Forever Families very soon!

Tuffy

Tuff Stuff! Wow, what a great pup... A Tiny Titan! Tuffy is the tiniest of the pups at 7 pounds. He really is a tough cookie and so adorable! Full of spunk and playful puppy antics. So tiny and too cute! He loves to play with his sisters as well as with the big foster siblings here.

Toffee

Toffee is the middle girl of this puppy trio. She is 10 pounds right now. Toffee is a super-cute, shy little love. Perfect for cuddling--you just can't help picking her up and giving her a hug. She loves her siblings and is taking her time getting familiar with her surroundings.
